Oregon Army National Guard Soldiers work together during a wild land fire field training exercise held at the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards (DPSST) and Training in Salem, Oregon, August 28, 2017. Nearly 125 Citizen-Soldiers from the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team volunteered for the second iteration (also known as NG-2) of Oregon National Guard personnel called-up to assist with wildfires across the state of Oregon. They attended a four-day training certification at DPSST where they received training on hose lays, deploying fire shelters, how to assess and mitigate hot spots, protecting structures and understanding fire behavior.
