Rear Adm. Dixon Smith, commander of Navy Region Hawaii, speaks at the Ford Island Control Tower blessing ceremony. The Pacific Aviation Museum officially began the $7.5 million stabilization of the historic Ford Island Control Tower with a Hawaiian blessing. The tower stood over Ford Island, Dec. 7, 1941, the day Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, bringing the United States into World War II.
