Maj. Gen. David R. Hogg, commander of U.S. Army Africa, shakes the hand of Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta after presenting him with the Meritorious Service Medal for the end of his service in the Army. “I want all of you to know it’s my honor to be with you, and to be part of this great unit and to be part of this opportunity to serve with each other for the greater good of all,” said Giunta. “I’ll be forever proud of that.” Giunta is the only living Medal of Honor recipient from the current wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
