170907-N-TO519-209 CARIBBEAN SEA (Sept. 7, 2017) Cmdr. Gregory Freitag, officer in charge of Fleet Surgical Team 2 (FST-2), and Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class John Malico, assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat 22 (HSC-22) help an evacuee enter an MH-60S helicopter attached to HSC-22 as part of first response efforts to the U.S. Virgin Islands in the wake of Hurricane Irma. FST-2 and HSC-22 flew from the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). The Department of Defense is supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
