A Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s low altitude air defense detachment fires an M16A4 service rifle during marksmanship training on the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) while underway in the Pacific Ocean, Sept. 7, 2017. LAAD gunners use the FIM-92 Stinger missile to defend the 31st MEU’s forward positions from air attack. LAAD is with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), a part of the Aviation Combat Element of the 31st MEU.
