Col. Steven Berger (left), Area Support Group-Kuwait commander, and Pvt. Brian Jarnagin, ASG-Kuwait information technology specialist and native of Carlisle, Pa., bow their heads for a moment of silence before the memorial wreath during ASG-Kuwait’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, Sept. 11, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives during the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2011. Since that day, the Army has remained globally engaged and 179,500 Soldiers are currently supporting combatant commander in 140 countries. “These events shaped our military. Most … remember where they were when they learned the towers were attacked. Some may have joined the military as a result of these attacks. However, after 16 years, some of our youngest Soldiers were not old enough to remember; this is why this ceremony is so important – to remember,” Berger stated during his speech.
