U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Jacob Downs, a supply sergeant and weapons trainer from Tipton, Iowa, with Company B, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, tactically reloads his M-4 rifle from behind cover during a drill to simulate reacting to enemy contact at the company’s range at Forward Operating Base Torkham Gate March 4. Downs is one of Iowa’s top military shooters, having won the Governor’s 10 rifle and pistol competition in 2010.
