BEAUMONT – Hundreds of cots were laid out Sept. 10, 2017, at the Sterling Pruitt Activity Center in preparation for the citizens of Beaumont, who lost their homes during Hurricane Harvey. The Texas State Guard, Arkansas Army National Guard and the Beaumont Fire Rescue Team escorted 356 evacuees who had been shuttled from a shelter in Dallas Texas, to either what was left of their homes or to the shelter closer to home in Beaumont.
