    Lance Cpl. Daniel Schueller, dog handler, 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, of Alden, N.Y., pets Cpl. Jazz, the platoon's bomb sniffing dog, before training began here Feb. 28. The Lava Dogs have dogs attached to each platoon to help fight the improvised explosive device threat during their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
