    U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Joel Gibbs, a marksmanship coach with Field Training Company, Weapons and Field Training Battalion, teaches Rct. Matthue Horg, Platoon 1070, Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, the correct shooting position Aug. 30, 2017, on Parris Island, S.C. Gibbs, 24, is from Logansport, Ind. Horg, 18, from Toledo, Ohio, is scheduled to graduate Sept. 22, 2017. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
