A MV-22B Osprey with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 268, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Kaneohe Bay, carrying Marines with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, returns to MCAS Kaneohe Bay during the conclusion of Exercise Bougainville II, Sept. 15, 2017. Bougainville II was conducted to train Marines in the Regiment on how to operate as a ground combat element of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. The MV-22B is a highly-capable aircraft with an excellent operational safety record. The aircraft combines the vertical capability of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft. It can fly twice as fast, carry three times as much, and has five times the range of older helicopters. The MV-22B is an asset to peace and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific area.
