Angie Bradbury, Launch Vehicle Mission Manager from SMC's Launch Enterprise Systems Directorate, prepares for a countdown Friday afternoon inside the historic Hangar AE Launch Control Center at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, along Florida's Space Coast.
During this time, the launch team performs communication checks and configures the LCC for an eight-hour countdown, culminating with the inaugural launch of a five-stage Orbital ATK Minotaur IV launch vehicle from a newly refurbished Launch Complex 46.
The Air Force and its mission partners, including the Space and Missile Systems Center, is responsible for the launch and operation of the Operationally Responsive Space (ORS-5) satellite, also known as SensorSat. The mission is also carrying three CubeSats for two government research agencies via a RideShare agreement. The launch window opens Aug. 25 at 11:15 p.m. EDT. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Van De Ha)
