U.S. Navy Logistics Specialist 1st Class Brian Gilhuly, a native of Naples, Fla., assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), directs Logistic Specialist Seaman Cornelius Tyler, a native of Sylvania, Ga., to store foreign humanitarian assistance supplies during a replenishment-at-sea from the USNS William McLean on the Caribbean Sea, Sept. 20, 2017. The USS Kearsarge is assisting with relief efforts following hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Department of Defense conducts Defense Support of Civil Authorities operations to assist civilian responders in saving lives, relieving human suffering and mitigating property damage in response to a catastrophic disaster.
