170920-N-RU971-069 WHITE BEACH, Okinawa (Sept. 20, 2017) Marines, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), off-load equipment from the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) at White Beach Naval Facility. The 31st MEU’s debarkation from the ship signals the end of the unit’s final deployment with BHR as the ship is scheduled to turn over duties with the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) in winter 2018. Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
