Maj. Gen. Mark A. Brilakis, commanding general, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, traveled to Matsushima Air Base, Sendai Airport, and Camp Sendai to survey the damage done to the areas affected by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake which struck Japan March 11. These efforts include coordination by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Agency for International Development, in constant consultation with Japanese Authorities and U.S. Pacific Command.
