Steve Stavrakakis pilots, Industrial Aeronautica of Romania (IAR), demonstrates the aircraft’s abilities during the 2017 Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show over crowds at MCAS Miramar, Calif., Sept. 22. The theme for the air show is “A Salute to Vietnam Veterans” and the IAR wears Air Force jungle camouflage colors and markings from the 8th Special Operations Squadron based in Bien Hoa Air Base, Vietnam, to show respect for Vietnam veterans. “The 2017 MCAS Miramar Air Show gives the public and current service members an opportunity to say thank you to the veterans of the Vietnam War,” said Col. Jason Woodworth, commanding officer of MCAS Miramar. “Our goal is to remind the veterans that the country cares about them and truly values the sacrifice they made for the American people, regardless of how they were treated when they initially returned from Vietnam.”(U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
