U.S. Army Soldiers with 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1-327 Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), are awarded medals for their time and efforts spent while assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa's (CJTF-HOA) East African Response Force (EARF), on September 22nd, 2017, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. This group of soldiers is preparing to return to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, after transferring their EARF responsibilities to soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division. The purpose of the East African Response Force is to rapidly provide tailorable packages of forces to protect American interests on the continent of Africa should any threats arise.
