E-3G 'Sentry' Airborne Warning and Control System aicraft of the 552nd Air Control Wing, Air Combat Command, at home station in the morning of Sept. 30, 2017, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. The Sentry is a derivative of the Boeing 707/320 commercial airframe with a distinctive black and white, rotating, Northrop Grumman AN/APY-2 S-band radar system mounted on top of the fuselage. The dome is 30 feet in diameter, six feet thick, and is held 11 feet above the fuselage by two struts. the An-APY-2 radar permits surveillance from the Earth's surface up into the stratosphere, over land or water.
