SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 02, 2017) Rick Stricklan, an information technology analyst and communications coordinator for California Emergency Medical Services Authority, explains the use of satellites to maintain communication in the field, during a Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) exercise held at the San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center held in conjunction with Fleet Week San Francisco, Oct. 2. The DSCA exercise was designed to provide familiarization and training for amphibious landing operations and to show how they can be used to support DSCA and disaster response. Fleet week provides an opportunity for the American public to meet their Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard team and to experience America's sea services. Fleet Week San Francisco will highlight naval personnel, equipment, technology, and capabilities, with an emphasis on humanitarian assistance and disaster response.(U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Chelsea Troy Milburn/Released)
