171003-N-MU198-040 SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Oct. 3, 2017) Leadership from the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) meet with the Puerto Rican Secretary of Health, the Puerto Rican Health coordinator, the US Surgeon General and multiple FEMA personnel for a medial summit onboard to synchronize efforts for the ship's mission of providing humanitarian assistance throughout the area. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
