U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Major Nelson Ildefonso, the Chief Medical Noncommissioned Officer with Federal Coordinating Center Augusta, has a conversation with an evacuated medical patient from the Virgin Islands in an ambulance Oct. 2 at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Columbia, S. C. Ildefonso worked with members of the U.S. Army Reserve-led FCC Columbia, the first ever FCC to be activated and recieve patients in the wake of a natural disaster - in this case Hurricane Maria - in Department of Defense history.
