171007-N-AY374-006 CARIBBEAN SEA (Oct. 7, 2017) Sailors and Marines on the flight deck aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD3) brace themselves as a UH-1Y Huey takes off to deliver personnel to assess generators in hospitals in Puerto Rico. Kearsarge and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit are assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
