ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 4, 2017) Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 1st Class Donald Bustin, from Laurel, Miss., left, and Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 2nd Class William Lane, from Rutherfordton, N.C., both assigned to the “Bluetails” of Carrier Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121, perform maintenance on a CMU-36 survival vest in the parachute rigger shop aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Nimitz is currently deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While in the region, the ship and strike group are conducting maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, preserve freedom of navigation, and maintain the free flow of commerce.
