The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been assigned a mission by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to lead the planning, coordination and integration efforts to execute electrical power grid repair in Puerto Rico due to impacts caused by Hurricane Maria. USACE has partnered with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, the Department of Energy and FEMA in order to establish unity of effort and accomplish the mission. Puerto Rico has 2,400 miles of transmission lines across the island, and 30,000 miles of distribution lines with 300 sub-stations, 80 percent of the grid have been affected.
