171012-M-FX717-012 (October 12, 2017) SAN DIEGO Theresa Snell and a Veterans of Foreign Wars officer lay flowers at the grave of Seaman Lakiba Nicole Palmer to remember the San Diego native who lost her life onboard USS Cole (DDG 67) during the terrorist attack on the ship on Oct. 12, 2000 in Aden, Yemen. Snell is Palmer's mother and she, along with Palmer's family and friends, have held an annual memorial at Palmer's grave every year since the attack.
