Lt. Katherine Cheng, from Springfield, Ill., left, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Miguel Hernandez, hospital corpsman, from Silver Springs, Md., both stationed aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island, perform a root canal on Petty Officer 3rd Class Holden Roberts, hospital corpsman from Duquoin, Ill., assigned to Easy Company of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 22nd MEU embarked aboard the ship to support U.S. and international efforts off the coast of Libya. The Whidbey Island is deployed as part of USS Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, which deployed ahead of its original schedule in order to relieve units from the Kearsage Amphibious Ready Group in the Mediterranean.
