Citizen-Soldiers assigned to the New York Army National Guard’s 442nd Military Police Company arrived in Puerto Rico to take part of the disaster relief operations in response to hurricanes Irma and María on October 1. The 132 MPs from New York State Armory in Jamaica, Queens, are taking part in law enforcement support operations throughout the Island under the command of the Puerto Rico National Guard. The 442nd is based in Fort Buchanan, Guaynabo while in the Island and are part of a myriad of units arriving from U.S. mainland to help in the relief efforts to restore the Island in the aftermath of the last two hurricanes.
