Soldiers pay respects through a memorial stand for Spc. Donald Lee Nichols. He was killed in action by an improvised explosive device, April 13, in Laghman province, Afghanistan while serving with Reconnaissance Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarter's Company, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. Nichols' memorial service took place at Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam, April 18. To the right of Nichols' boots is his Donald Duck keychain his platoon mates said he carried with him everywhere.
