Krieger, a six-year-old Saker Falcon, prepares to take flight over a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District dredge placement area in the Houston Ship Channel April 14. Krieger is one of nearly a dozen trained birds used in a new bird abatement program effort, which began March 6, to temporarily deter migratory birds from nesting in the project site until the construction phase concludes this summer.
