    171029-N-N0146-002 ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 29, 2017) The coastal patrol ship USS Whirlwind's (PC 11) visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) team sail in a rigid-hull inflatable boat during a VBSS drill with USS Tempest (PC 2) in the Arabian Gulf. Whirlwind and Tempest are two of 10 coastal patrol ships assigned to Naval Surface Squadron (CNSS) 5, which is forward deployed to Manama, Bahrain, in support of maritime security operations and theatre security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
