York Mayor Kim Bracey discusses the benefits that Indian Rock Dam in Pennsylvania has provided to her community of York, Pennsylvania over the years since its completion in 1942 at a ceremony in front of the dam’s gatehouse commemorating its 75th anniversary Saturday October 28, 2017. It’s estimated that the dam has prevented more than $55 million in damages to downstream communities since being completed in 1942, though the number is likely higher since that primarily takes into account the most extreme high water events.
