Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard electricians Landon Nakayama, left, and Evan Egdamin conduct wind speed indicator checks on a shipyard portal crane. The wind speed indicator monitors wind speed changes. This data is used by operators to determine if conditions are stable enough for the crane to operate safely. The wind speed indicator is located at the highest point on the crane that maintenance personnel can climb to.
