Ryan Carr, a native of Oceanside, California, assigned to the combat cargo department aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), directs a Marine Corps CH-53 Super Stallion, assigned to the Grey Hawks of Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 161 (VMM-161), on the ship’s flight deck. Pearl Harbor is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigations and the free flow of commerce in the region.
