Fuerst, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, during the birthday pageant ceremony at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, Nov. 9, 2017. U.S. Marines and Sailors from around the air station came together to watch and participate in a pageant that featured uniforms from different eras throughout the Marine Corps’ 200 plus year history. The Marine Corps birthday is a time to reflect on the values and traditions that bind Marines together, while looking forward as the Corps continues to progress into a new era.
