    U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Nathan M. Salas instructs recruits of Platoon 1004, Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, during an incentive training session Oct. 31, 2017, on Parris Island, S.C. Salas, 31, is from Santa Rita, Guam. Incentive training consists of physical exercises administered in a controlled and deliberate manner and is used to correct minor disciplinary infractions. India Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 10, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
