171110-N-ZS023-003 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Nov. 10, 2017) Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Kimberly White, a New Orleans native, assigned to the deck department aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), maintains the deck log as the Boatswain’s Mate of the Watch in the bridge as the ship prepares to enter Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates for a scheduled port visit. America is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
