French marines assigned to the 5th Overseas Interarms Regiment, Djibouti, climb a net as part of a water-based obstacle during a French Desert Commando Course prequalification assessment at Montclair, Djibouti, Nov. 22, 2017. Their fellow marines and 30 U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 144th Infantry Regiment, Task Force Bayonet, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, watched as each team of three to five members went through the water assessment. Each service member had to complete all of the water-based obstacles in order to compete in the two-week French Desert Commando Course, which includes desert, water, and mountain portions.
