Welders with Bravo Company, 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry complete the first heat shield for an M1A1 Abrams tank heat shield Nov. 28, 2017, at Fort Stewart, Ga. Heat shields are used to deflect exhaust upwards during recovery operations in order to protect the crew from being burned.
