At the close of ceremonies, a Kukui necklace lies around the base of one of the marble monuments dedicated to the Pearl Harbor servicemen who died aboard the USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1940. Kukui were the first prayer beads for the Hawaiian people and are in use today.
