Lt. Gen. Lawrence Nicholson recognizes Sgt. Arthur Whittaker and Staff Sgt. Nathanial Clark for their selfless acts of care, Dec. 14, 2017, at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. On their way to Guam, the Marines attended to an elderly man who was traveling alone and appeared to be disoriented and disabled. Whittaker and Clark spent the rest of the seven hour flight caring for him. Nicholson is the III Marine Expeditionary Force commanding general and Okinawa Area Coordinator. Whittaker, a native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, is an electrical optical ordnance technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 3d Marine Logistics Group.
