Cpl. Richard Wiebe, a Marine with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, drags a section of concertina wire to create an obstacle at a platoon live-fire range during a pre-deployment training exercise at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., Dec. 7, 2017. The Marines are conducting the training to maintain proficiency at the squad, platoon, company, and battalion-level of warfighting in preparation for an upcoming deployment to Japan. The Marines patrolled, detonated Bangalore torpedoes to breach obstacles, threw M67 fragmentation grenades to clear trenches, and conducted live-fire movements to take an objective.
