170530-N-PF593-065 WATERS OFF THE COAST OF JAPAN (May 30, 2017) -- Fire Controlman 2nd Class Maris Cox poses on the flight deck of the forward-deployed naval forces (FDNF) aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). "As part of the FDNF, fire controlmen have a distinctive advantage over the sailors stationed CONUS (continental U.S.) with constant in-rate training due to the high op-tempo. Our division is always on call to display our level of knowledge and expertise during multiple ammo handling and gun firing evolutions. We also have the opportunity to integrate with multiple naval forces from around the Pacific region nan effort to strengthen bonds with 7th Fleet AOR (area of responsibility). FDNF is the tip of the spear!" said Cox.
