CAMP NAHA, OKINAWA, Japan— U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Rock pounds rice into mochi during the annual End of Year Event Dec. 21 aboard Camp Naha, Okinawa, Japan. During this End of Year Event, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force 15th Brigade invited U.S. military aboard Camp Naha for an in depth cultural experience. Mochi is a short-grain glutinous rice pounded into a paste. Kagami Mochi, the mirror rice cake, is a traditional Japanese New Year decoration, made at the end of every year.
