Louisiana National Guard soldiers from the 527th Engineer Battalion relax on the top of their armor-plated D7F Dozers just prior to the initial ground assault into Iraq in 1991 in support of Operation Desert Storm. The dozers were used by the battalion to breach the berms on the Saudi Arabia-Iraq borders and for the destruction of fortified enemy fighting positions. The 527th was led in combat support missions by Maj. Gen. Bennett C. Landreneau, the current adjutant general of the LANG. The unit recently celebrated the 20-year reunion of their Desert Storm deployment in Ruston, La., May 13-14, 2011.
