Carol Shimada, the longest employed federal worker for the Marine Corps, died May 24. Her desk is filled with flowers from colleagues, her calculator and a treasured photo taken of her in 2010 alongside her daughter Leanne, President Barrack Obama and the First Lady. Shimada worked more than 66 years as a federal employee. She was a civilian payroll supervisor for Comptroller’s Office at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
