Airman 1st Class Briana McIver, left, 23d Aerospace Medicine Squadron (AMDS) bioenvironmental engineering apprentice, and 2nd Lt. Eric Olson, 23d AMDS bioenvironmental engineer, read instructions for a hand held assay (HHA) during biohazard readiness training, Jan. 12, 2018, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. An HHA distinguishes whether or not the sample is a deadly protein. This process of going through the instructions ensures standardization of sampling. The Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight tested their response capabilities in a simulated contamination scenario. Bioenvironmental engineering specialists focus on reducing health hazards in the workplace and surrounding areas. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Erick Requadt)
