PONCE, Puerto Rico – Master Sgt. Tatshee L. Simmons, Illinois Army National Guard, looks for the manufacturer information on a special wire, unique to Puerto Rico, Jan. 16, at the Port of Ponce lay down yard, operated by the USACE Task Force Power Restoration. Simmons, a member of TF Power’s Bill of Materials, or BOM Squad, manages the site’s stock control, inventory and distribution. “Puerto Rican Special” is unique to high voltage transmission, because of its mostly all- aluminum construction. This design reduces the overall weight on the transmission line structure, and allows maximum current to run through the aluminum conductor. (U.S. Army photo by Gerald Rogers)
