Blue roof homes at St. Thomas as seen on this Oct. 19. Operation Blue Roof has applied roughly 4,500,000 square feet of blue plastic sheeting to schools, residential dwellings, and the St. Thomas International Airport through FEMA-approved MATOs. That is enough blue plastic sheeting to cover every NFL stadium field more than three times.
Operation Blue Roof is funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps will provide temporary repairs to roofs damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
