Sgt. Angel Ceniceros, a Marine Attack Squadron 513 AV-8B Harrier mechanic, checks one of the squadron's jets for maintenance issues at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, May 20. VMA-513 pilots began combat sorties the next day, less than a day after the first group of Harriers had landed. VMA-513 is slated for a seven-month deployment, during which they will provide close air support for ground troops attempting to neutralize the insurgent threat to Afghanistan's stabilization efforts.
