Oklahoma Army National Guardsman, Sgt. Michael Bolgrin, religious affairs non-commissioned officer with 1st Squadron, 180th Cavalry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, receives his Thunderbird combat patch alongside more than 350 of his peers during a time-honored ceremony held January 2018 in Kabul, Afghanistan. For Bolgrin, earning the Thunderbird combat patch holds sentimental value, as his grandfather fought in WWII and the Korean War with the 45th Infantry Division. Nearly 500 members of the 180th are currently deployed to Afghanistan in support of the NATO-led train, advise and assist mission, Operation Resolute Support. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Capt.
